Buffalo Bills center Eric Wood suffered yet another late-season leg injury in Sunday’s win over Jacksonville.

Wood partially tore his MCL in his left knee with 10 minutes remaining in the 34-18 victory when a Jacksonville defensive end crashed into the lineman.

“Another stupid, fluke accident,” Wood said Monday.

The good news for Wood is that the injury was not worse. Wood said he’ll be out 2-4 weeks, which puts the remainder of his season in jeopardy, but he won’t require any surgery.

“That could be as quick as two weeks, it could end the season,” Wood said. “So we’ll see, I haven’t talked to [GM] Buddy [Nix] or whoever will make the decision but in my mind I’m thinking get ready to play the last two games, so we’ll see.

Still, Wood was having a hard time finding the positives after another fluke setback to his career. Ten games into his rookie season, Wood suffered a horrific compound fracture in his left leg. Nine games into last season, he tore the ACL in his right knee.

Wood was in such a state of disbelief after the injury occurred on Sunday that he actually stayed on the field for another play before he realized that he had to get it checked out.

“It’s unbelievable,” Wood said. “You do all you can to prepare, you keep your feet moving on every play. You think of all the things that could’ve got you in the past and you try and improve it for this year and to have a guy block with my legs moving and a guy comes flying into the line of scrimmage, trying to make a play on the back and it’s not a dirty play.

"He dives right through the side of my knee. My knee brace was on. It could’ve been worse. ... I just was in denial that I got hurt so I just kept playing because I was like, 'there’s no way I’m staying down on this field, no way this is happening again.'”

All Wood can do now is rest and hope his season isn't over.

“It’s not degenerative -- it’s just stupid stuff keeps happening,” Wood said. “I played 49 straight games in college and never got banged up and maybe my luck ran out then or whatever. All I can do right now is hope to make it back for the last two games.”

With Wood out of the lineup, coach Chan Gailey said that the current plan on the offensive line is to move RG Kraig Urbik to center and have rookie David Snow enter the lineup at RG.
