After being decimated by injuries last season, the Bills are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
With the official start to camp coming on Thursday, coach Chan Gailey addressed the status of several players following a closed conditioning workout late Wednesday afternoon -- and the news was all positive.
Cornerback Terrence McGee (patella tendon), center Eric Wood (ACL) and defensive tackle Torell Troup (back) all made it through the session.
“All went through it, made it through and did pretty good,” Gailey said. “I think we’ll be smart with all three of them; Troup’s probably the furthest along at this point of all three, but I thought all three of those guys looked good out there to start.”
Two impact defenders who finished last season on injured reserve, Kyle Williams and Shawne Merriman, are expected to participate fully when camp opens, Gailey said. The same goes for running back Fred Jackson, who ended up on IR with a broken fibula last year.
“I don’t really consider my injury as serious as a lot of people say,” Jackson said. “It was just a dumb bone that I fractured, but I was walking around on it two weeks later without a problem. It’s a non-weight-bearing bone, so I’m fine -- 100 percent ready to go.”
