The Bills could have two key starters along the offensive line back in the lineup for their Week 9 game against the Houston Texans.
RG Kraig Urbik (ankle) and LT Cordy Glenn (ankle) both practiced Monday, benefiting from Buffalo’s Week 8 bye. Each player last played in Week 4. Urbik appears to be ahead of Glenn at the moment, and he says he’ll play Sunday “no matter what.” The Bills will wait to see how Glenn reacts to his work at Monday’s practice before determining his status.
“This was the first time he’s really worked, so we’ll see how he is tomorrow, but I was encouraged by what happened today,” coach Chan Gailey said.
McGee struggling: CB Terrence McGee is struggling yet again with his ongoing knee injury. McGee had surgery to repair a torn patella tendon last year but has never gotten back to 100 percent, placing the Bills in a dilemma. Buffalo needs his veteran experience at a position that has very little, but he’s clearly having trouble with his injured leg. McGee didn’t practice Monday. “He struggled to get back completely from that last game, so we're giving him as much rest as we can possibly give him to see where he is,” Gailey said. “If it takes longer and longer for a guy to come back every time, then it has to be a problem for him and for us. He's worked so hard to get back. He wants to and the thing about him is he can't go half-speed. That's the thing about him. He can't go through the motions and then play hard on Sunday. He pushes himself at practice. So that's part of it."
Anderson has a chance: DE Mark Anderson (knee) has a chance of returning against Houston, but the Bills won’t know more until later in the week. Anderson, the usual starter at RDE, has been out since suffering a knee injury in Week 5. “It’s going to be close,” Gailey said. “We’ll see if we can get him back on the field Thursday. If he can’t make it Thursday, then no, but if we can get him on the field Thursday, then maybe.”
Brooks likely in, Rinehart likely out: CB Ron Brooks will likely return to the active roster later this week after spending the first eight weeks of the season on injured reserve. Brooks was listed as “designated to return” after undergoing foot surgery shortly before the start of the season. Gailey said he will probably take the spot of G Chad Rinehart, who is out indefinitely with an ankle injury.
