The casualty of the Broncos' roster shuffle was backup G/C C.J. Davis, who was waived Tuesday.
Davis was jettisoned to make room for ex-Patriots center Dan Koppen, who was officially signed Tuesday. He had joined the Broncos this year, reuniting with offensive line coach Dave Magazu and head coach John Fox, who were his bosses during two seasons (2009-10) with the Panthers before he was waived by Ron Rivera's staff last year.
Koppen is listed as J.D. Walton's backup on the depth chart.
QB Caleb Hanie was also officially re-signed after being released Saturday in what Fox called a "procedural" move. The Broncos are no longer on the hook for Hanie's full salary, which would have been the case if he had been on the Week 1 gameday roster, since the five-year veteran is vested.
Hanie takes the spot vacated by DT Ty Warren, who was placed on injured reserve with a re-torn triceps. DT Sealver Siliga, who had been promoted from the practice squad to fill Hanie's vacated spot Saturday, retains his place on the 53-man roster.
Siliga will back up Kevin Vickerson, who returns to the starting lineup in the wake of Warren's injury. He started there last year before an ankle injury ended his season after five weeks.
Rookie G Wayne Tribue was waived from the practice squad, so the Broncos have two vacancies on that eight-man segment of the overall roster. The Broncos also waived WR Tyler Grisham from injured reserve.
