Guard Logan Mankins, who was traded from the Patriots to the Buccaneers in the preseason, only lasted about 20 minutes of action before walking back to the locker room with a knee injury. According to the team, he's questionable to return vs. the Panthers.
At the time, the trade seemed like a great idea for Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers badly needed some help for a subpar offensive line, and the Patriots were OK with getting rid of an offensive lineman who's on the wrong side of 30 years old.
Garrett Gilkey, a second-year player who performed in six games last season, was sent in to replace Mankins.
