Who could blame LB Stewart Bradley for busting out a dorky sack dance last week against the New Orleans Saints in the team’s preseason opener? After a disastrous first season in Arizona in 2011, the high-priced free agent is feeling more comfortable in the middle of the Cardinals defense as he tries to unseat incumbent Paris Lenon, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reported.
CB Greg Toler missed last season with a torn ACL suffered in preseason. In training camp, Toler looks like someone who missed a season of football, coach Ken Whisenhunt told Somers. Toler is battling William Gay, A.J. Jefferson, Jamell Fleming and Michael Adams for the starting CB spot opposite Patrick Peterson.
The Cards performed an exhibition in poor tackling in the Hall of Fame Game against the Saints, but players and coaches are confident there will be improvement as the preseason wears on, Darren Urban of azcardinals.com reported.
Despite widespread criticism of QB Kevin Kolb’s performance against the Saints, Mike Sando of ESPN.com said Kolb deserves some slack because his protection wasn’t good, a thought echoed by Whisenhunt after the game.
He battled injuries the past two seasons, had to learn a new defense and was stung by criticism that he had lost a step, but as the 2012 season begins, S Adrian Wilson is in a happy place.
