  • If a defense becomes the best in the NFL but there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? It helps when they finally get a bigger showcase, Craig Morgan of Fox Sports Arizona writes. The Cardinals' superb start has been under the watchful eye of national media after standout performances in back-to-back weeks against New England and Philadeplhia. Still, Morgan notes, the defense is staying humble. “We’re the same defense we were at the end of last year," DT Darnell Dockett said. “But we still got 13 games left, so we ain’t getting all excited like y’all. We got a long ways to go.”

  • Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt said he hopes for the return this week of TE Todd Heap (knee) and S Adrian Wilson (groin), Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com reported. Urban added that former Arizona State WR Kerry Taylor has taken the position of his former college teammate, Gerell Robinson, who was suspended by the NFL on Friday for four games, reportedly for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

  • The Cardinals are just the seventh team since 1978 to start the year 3-0 despite being an underdog each week, Chase Stuart of the New York Times writes. Stuart's worry? That Arizona's offensive "limitations" matches them best with the 2004 Jacksonville Jaguars, who started out hot but won just six games after their 3-0 opening and missed the playoffs.
