Here are some Cardinals news and notes:

  • John Skelton was limited once more in Arizona's practice on Friday and is considered questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Eagles. He is joined on the injured list by five others, including tight end Todd Heap (questionable, limited Friday) and safety Adrian Wilson (questionable, limited Friday).
  • The Eagles are also a bit hobbled heading into the game, wrote Kent Somers of AZCentral.com. With center Jason Kelce out for the year and left tackle King Dunlap sidelined for the game, the Cardinals have the opportunity to capitalize on the defensive front. Perhaps more important for Philadelphia is the loss of Jeremy Maclin to a hip injury, as he comes into the game with two touchdowns.
  • Larry Fitzgerald is the consumate team player, but even he felt the sting of a one-catch, four-yard performance in the Cardinals' win over the Patriots. He shouldn't feel the sting next week. Fitzgerald has 298 yards and five touchdowns in his last two games against the Eagles, as Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com points out. “This is not like the Patriots where they are going to zone you and scheme you up,” Fitzgerald told Urban. “They’re going to play you man, your best guys against their best guys and whoever wins, wins.”
  • If this whole football thing doesn't work out for Fitzgerald, though, he might have a future in classical music, Morgan wrote.
  • Arizona's stout red-zone defense has become among the best in the league Urban noted. The Cardinals rank fourth in the league with a 28.6 touchdowns allowed percentage in the red zone. “We want to be a top defense, and if you want to be a top defense, you have to keep teams out of the end zone,” nose tackle Dan Williams told Urban. “No touchdown, hold them to a field goal, and the mentality now is, if they try a field goal, we can block it.”
