Arizona's seventh straight loss -- a defeat that gives the Cardinals the dubious distinction of being the first 4-0 team to fall to 4-7 -- was marked by the continued struggles at the quarterback position. 

Offense: F+

Ken Whisenhunt pulled John Skelton in favor of rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley because of missed throws and squandered opportunities. Then on Sunday, Lindley missed just as many throws, squandered just as many opportunities, and threw four interceptions. That two were returned for touchdowns by St. Louis rookie cornerback Janoris Jenkins is almost immaterial, just another sad footnote to add to Arizona's miserable offensive season. The two other picks were damaging as well, one coming at the St. Louis 10-yard line just as the Cardinals had a chance to make it a game. Only Beanie Wells' two touchdowns, and his reemergence in the running game after a torn ligament in his toe, saved this from a straight F. Previous game's grade: D-

Defense: C

The Cardinals actually outgained the Rams 375-367, but St. Louis was more effective when it mattered. Three Rams receivers had catches of at least 37 yards, and rookie Chris Givens hauled in five of Sam Bradford's eight completions for 116 yards. Steady Steven Jackson added 139 rushing yards for St. Louis, which finished with 173 rushing yards. Previous game's grade: A

Special teams: B

The kicking game delivered for the Cardinals -- Jay Feely converted two extra points and a field goal and Dave Zastudil averaged 48.6 yards on six punts -- but the exciting return game that blossomed last season is still in the dark. Previous game's grade: B+

Coaching: D

Whisenhunt's frustrations with Skelton were both obvious and understandable, but given Lindley's lackluster performance, the quarterback situation is still a complete quagmire. Previous game's grade: D
