The Chargers concluded preparations for the first preseason game with a walk-through on Wednesday morning. Coach Norv Turner said there's no set plan for how long the starters will play against the Packers.
“I don’t really put it down as first-team,” Turner said. “There are guys at different points in their career. You might want one guy to play 10 plays who is a first-teamer and you may want one guy who is a first teamer to play 30 plays.”
What stood out: OLB Melvin Ingram (first round, 18th overall pick) worked with the first team and may play with the starters on Thursday. Projected starting OLB Jarret Johnson has had a tight hamstring since Saturday. Johnson would likely be listed as questionable if this were a regular season game. Turner said Johnson would be a game-time decision.
Former Chargers QB Doug Flutie (2001- '04) observed practice for a few minutes. He was picking up tickets for the game so that he could watch his daughter Alexa cheer. Flutie pointed out that Alexa is now the only Flutie capable of winning a Super Bowl.
Injury report: CB Marcus Gilchrist, WR Richard Goodman, WR Roscoe Parrish, WR Eddie Royal (leg) and T Phil Trautwein are not expected to play on Thursday. G-T Brandyn Dombrowski (foot, cyst) and G Johnnie Troutman (pectoral) are definitely out.
