RB Ryan Mathews wore shorts and observed practice on Tuesday night following a late-night auto accident.
Mathews suffered “minor injuries” and was evaluated at a local hospital after he was involved in a two-vehicle accident as he entered east Interstate 8 at Sports Arena Blvd. about midnight
Monday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Mathews apparently hit another vehicle after he was driving too fast and lost control of his 2010 BMW, California Highway Patrol Officer Mary Bailey told the U-T. No drugs or alcohol appeared to have been involved.
The players were off Monday, but it's unclear if they were under a team curfew to be at the team's training camp hotel.
Others not participating in practice Tuesday included: CB Marcus Gilchrist, G Johnnie Troutman, G-T Brandyn Dombrowski (foot, cyst), LT Jared Gaither, OLB Larry English, OT Phil Trautwein, QB Charlie Whitehurst (sore MCL), SS Atari Bigby and WR Eddie Royal
