Charles Godfrey didn't make much of an impact during his first season with the Falcons after seven years with the Panthers, but under new coach Dan Quinn, Godfrey has the inside track on earning the free safety position, according to the team's website.
Godfrey has the size and speed reminiscent to Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, and the Falcons, with former Hawks DC Quinn as coach, will play a similar, aggressive pass defense.
"(I have the) ability to get to the ball and to make plays when I get to the ball," Godfrey said. "Also, my ability to see the whole field. I have a long ways to go; I'm far from there. But the good thing is we're going to keep watching film and keep pushing."
Godfrey has 11 career interceptions, but none since 2012.
