What matters: The Colts win and they're in the playoffs. The Chiefs win and they could potentially lose their spot atop the draft board. Other than draft position, not much matters. You could say that Romeo Crennel is coaching for his future, but many believe Crennel's fate already has been decided.
Who matters: RB Jamaal Charles. For the Chiefs to have a chance and put some points on the board, Charles needs to be productive. Last week against Oakland, Charles ran for only 10 yards on nine carries and it's no coincidence the Chiefs went scoreless.
Key matchups: Colts WR T.Y. Hilton vs. secondary. The Chiefs have struggled to defend against the deep ball this year and Hilton is Andrew Luck's best downfield threat. Hilton has six touchdown catches and has caught 11 passes for at least 20 yards. He will likely be matched against Jalil Brown or Javier Arenas, as top CB Brandon Flowers will likely be on Reggie Wayne. ... Andrew Luck vs. Tamba Hali and Justin Houston. Luck has been sacked 37 times, which is the fourth most in the NFL. The Chiefs have two of the better edge pass-rushers in the league in Hali and Houston. The duo has combined for 18 sacks this season.
Inside stuff: Crennel had hinted earlier in the week third-string quarterback Ricky Stanzi may get a look because of Brady Quinn's rib injury. Quinn will play and it's not likely Stanzi will get on the field unless Quinn sustains another injury.
Injuries of note: The Chiefs have multiple players with the flu, including Flowers and TE Tony Moeaki, but it's tough to imagine that will stop anyone from playing on Sunday. LT Branden Albert continues to have a nagging back injury and was limited at Thursday's practice.
Stat you should know: The Chiefs have not scored in seven quarters, which is how long they've been without leading WR Dwayne Bowe .
Looking ahead: The end is finally in sight. The Chiefs finish their forgetful season in Denver in Week 17.
Prediction: Colts 27, Chiefs 6
