Chiefs at Raiders -- Week 15

Past results: Two most recent meetings -- Oct. 28, 2012: Raiders 26, Chiefs 16; Dec. 24, 2011: Raiders 16, Chiefs 13. Series record: Chiefs lead series 55-50-2.

What matters: It will be a rare week for one of these franchises to feel good about itself with a win, but neither really benefits that much from a victory. In fact, the winner will only hurt its position in the draft and both teams are in the running for the top pick. Other than draft position, there's no reason for outsiders to pay much attention to this game, which was once a great rivalry. The Raiders have dominated the series as of late, winning four out of the last five games.

Who matters: Kansas City's receivers. The Chiefs will be without leading WR Dwayne Bowe because of an injury to his ribs. With Bowe, the Chiefs have one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL. Without Bowe, they are the worst. Once Bowe left last week's game against the Browns, Brady Quinn struggled to get anything going in the passing game. Quinn completed only 5 of 12 targets to his receivers, who struggled to get open. That will put a lot of pressure on Kansas City's running game. In the first meeting this season with Oakland, Jamaal Charles ran only five times for four yards. Expect Charles to get a lot more action this week.

Key matchups: Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki vs. Linebackers. Moeaki has had a relatively quiet season with 28 catches for 396 yards and only one touchdown, but he might be the best option in the passing game that Quinn has left. Two weeks ago, Moeaki had one of his best games this year in a win against Carolina, catching four passes for 54 yards and his lone touchdown on the season. The Raiders rank 28th in pass defense. For the Chiefs to have a chance, Moeaki is going to have to show up. ... Raiders WR Denarius Moore vs. CB Brandon Flowers. Moore is Oakland's leading receiver and has a touchdown in each of Oakland's three wins. Flowers is nursing a hamstring injury, which is not ideal against a speed guy like Moore. He was still effective last week in pass coverage.

Inside stuff: The Chiefs have plenty of injuries, but this is as healthy as the team has been in weeks. The secondary could get a lift with the return of S Kendrick Lewis, who has not played the last two weeks because of a shoulder injury.

Injuries of note: LB Derrick Johnson (hamstring) and Flowers (hamstring) were full participants at Thursday's practice and should play on Sunday. Bowe (ribs) is out. LT Branden Albert (back), C Ryan Lilja (knee), OG Russ Hochstein (back) and S Abe Elam (quad) did not practice and are all questionable heading into Sunday's game.


Stat you should know: The Chiefs (-157) and Raiders (-154) have the worst point diffentials in the NFL.

Looking ahead: The Chiefs host the Colts, with the Raiders traveling to Carolina in Week 16.

Prediction: Raiders 17, Chiefs 9
