The Chiefs left no doubts that they are the worst team in the NFL and deserving of the No. 1 pick in Sunday's season-ending 38-3 loss to the Broncos. They also looked ready to end this disastrous 2-14 season.
Offense: F
The offense's stats looked like the Chiefs played a quarter. Brady Quinn went 7 of 16 for 49 yards. (Hey, no turnovers!) The running game, which has been the only hope in recent weeks, was held to 93 yards. The only points were the result of a Denver fumble, and the Chiefs managed just eight first downs. Previous game's grade: C
Defense: F
The Chiefs defensive players were inspired to face Peyton Manning but thoroughly defeated by the time he was through with them. The effort was not great, and it might not have mattered as well as Manning played. The only positive was a forced fumble by Javier Arenas that Brandon Flowers returned 64 yards. The rest was Manning carving up the secondary without even the threat of a pass rush. Previous game's grade: B
Special teams: D
Not that it mattered much, but Ryan Succop missed three field goals in the final four weeks of the season, including a 33-yard kick against the Broncos. Succop's late-season struggles might convince Scott Pioli or the next general manager to look elsewhere for kicking options this offseason. Previous game's grade: C
Coaching: F
Romeo Crennel had close to an impossible mission getting his team motivated to play on the road with nothing at stake, and it looked like it. This team quit on Crennel, which is the opposite of last season when the one thing he had going for him at the end of the year was that he kept the team playing hard. Previous game's grade: C
