What matters: The Colts are coming off a big, emotional comeback win over the Packers last week, and they have a chance to put together a solid winning streak with a stretch of winnable games. After New York, Indianapolis will face the Browns, Titans, Dolphins and Jaguars.
Who matters: For the Colts, the impact of Andrew Luck has been immediate and beneficial. This will be the second road game for the rookie, who didn't perform particularly well at Chicago, going 23 of 45 with three interceptions in a 41-21 loss. The NFL learning curve is steep, and Luck has shown the ability to pick things up on the fly. Expect a more efficient outing from the rookie Sunday, especially against a Jets secondary minus Darrelle Revis.
Key matchup: Colts defense vs. Jets offense. It's not the matchup anyone's itching to see, but a banged up Colts defense will try to stop a New York offense that has done a pretty good job stopping itself this season. The Jets are 27th in the league in total offense, averaging fewer than 300 yards per game and 19.6 points.
Injuries of note: The list of injured starters for the Colts is long and primarily on defense. ILB Pat Angerer (foot) will miss his fifth-straight game; Also out: NT Martin Tevaseu, DE Fili Moala, LB Robert Mathis, RB Donald Brown and OG Joe Reitz. CB Vontae Davis, who missed last week's game, is doubtful.
Inside stuff: Without Brown, the Colts will be forced to rely more on Luck's arm. And with Reggie Wayne's explosion last week -- 13 catches, 212 yards -- the Jets will likely make someone else beat them. That stage could be set for Donnie Avery, who is due a breakout game.
Connections: Perhaps the most interesting connection is former Jets backup Drew Stanton -- now Luck's backup -- saying that it was his understanding that he would play if New York QBMark Sanchez struggled. The obvious implication is that Sanchez is struggling and backup Tim Tebow hasn't been given a shot yet. Jets coach Rex Ryan denies Stanton's story. Stanton left New York just a few days after the signing of Tebow.
Stat you should know: Luck is 40 of 64 in the final five minutes of the second and fourth quarters with 476 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. The Colts have scored 37 points on 13 drives late in the half.
Record watch: With a touchdown pass, Luck will become the first rookie in Colts' history to throw for a score in each of his first five career games.
Looking ahead: Indy has what appears to be a soft schedule forthcoming. They return home next week to face the Browns.
Prediction: Jets 20, Colts 17
