It is almost impossible to overstate just how much attention had been paid to Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck before he had even taken a snap in training camp. There was talk of him saving the franchise before he had been drafted.

And, surprisingly, after just three days of practice with the team, Luck has garnered even more attention.

Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians has a track record of working with great quarterbacks. He has mentored Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, and former No. 1 overall pick, Tim Couch. Early in camp, Arians already believes Luck can be the best of the bunch.

"(Luck) has a little bit of Peyton, a little bit of Timmy Couch and a little bit of Ben," Arians told the Anderson (Ind.) Herald Bulletin. "It’s scary how good he can be. I’m really anxious to see him develop and watch him grow because he’s got the best of all three of those guys."

Arians may not be exaggerating. If reports from camp are accurate, Luck's football intuition has been lauded, along with both his arm strength and touch. A quarterback with Manning's brain and Roethlisberger's arm can be a dangerous weapon for an offensive coordinator. And though he fizzled as a pro, Couch's athleticism vaulted him to the first pick of the 1999 NFL Draft. That's quite the three-headed monster.

By all accounts, Luck has been very impressive in just a few days of practice. He's built a solid rapport with wide receivers Reggie Wayne and Austin Collie. He's hit the deep ball to fellow rookie T.Y. Hilton, and he's even rushed for a touchdown  -- running, however, is not something the coaching staff hopes to see much of out of Luck. 

On Tuesday, Luck hit Wayne on a fade to the back corner of the end zone with a perfect throw. He's showing, right away, that his ability matches his hype -- something that seemed impossible with the hype that accompanied Luck's arrival in Indianapolis.

Coaches and teammates also have spoken of his intelligence and humble attitude.

“He’s a good guy,” longtime Colt Dwight Freeney told the Indianapolis Star. “He’s a humble guy, which will take him far.”

Former coach Tony Dungy, who led the Colts to a Super Bowl title, also has been impressed, tweeting: "Just watched the Colts first training camp practice with Andrew Luck. They are going to be in great hands for a long time!"
