The Washington Commanders will host the Arizona Cardinals to start their respective 2023-2024 campaigns. Kickoff is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET on September 10th at FedEx Field.
This game could come down to interceptions, as neither team did well in that area last year. The Cardinals were ranked 28th overall, with 17 over the course of the season. The Commanders, meanwhile, were ranked 27th with 16.
Looking back to last season, Arizona struggled throughout, finishing with a less-than-stellar 4-13 record. On the other hand, the Commanders wound up balanced, finishing 8-8-1.
The Cardinals will be fighting an uphill battle on Sunday as the experts have pegged them as the 7-point underdog. They finished last season with an 8-9 record against the spread.
That disadvantage in the odds might be especially worrying for Arizona considering the team was a sub-par 3-11 as the underdog last season. While their fans probably aren't happy about it, betting on the team to lose was the smart play last year, and bettors who put $100 on that outcome every game finished the season up $1,624.15. The Commanders will open their season as the favorite, and the team was 4-3-1 as such last season.
