Contract talks between the Lions and free agent LT Jeff Backus are progressing well, increasing speculation that the Lions will sign the veteran to a new deal before free agency begins. "We met (with Lions officials) at the combine and had a positive discussion," Backus' agent, Pat Dye, told the Free Press. "We'll probably be reconvening in the near future, and we'll see where it goes."
