DE Willie Young has taken advantage of the first-team reps he's received this offseason while filling in for absentee DE Cliff Avril. Contact isn't allowed in offseason drills, but his positioning and speed during team periods would have earned him several tackles for loss in contact situations. Young said he feels capable of handling starting duties if negotiations between Avril and management aren't resolved when training camp begins. “That's why I train I the way I train,” Young said. “God forbid, Cliff Avril's deal doesn't come through the way he wants it to If that happens, and I'm the guy for the job, then cool.”
