Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito insists there isn't a problem with the snap count.
Texans defensive end J.J. Watt said after his team’s win on Sunday he learned the Dolphins snap count by watching the HBO show “Hard Knocks.” The show chronicled the team’s rocky preseason.
"That makes no sense whatsoever," guard Richie Incognito told the Miami Herald. "It was so loud, we couldn't even hear the snap count. There's no way he heard it. He's just blowing smoke. Me and Jake Long were talking about this. We couldn't hear the snap count. There's no way him all the way out there could hear the snap count."
Incognito added the Dolphins varied the snap count during the game and often went off the center.
"We were on silent count most of the time," Incognito told the newspaper. "J.J. really has no idea what he's talking about ... It's ridiculous."
Making moves: The Dolphins made changes to the roster on Wednesday.
The team cut linebackers Sammy Brown and released practice squad receiver Chris Hogan . Brown was claimed off waivers before the season opener against Houston but did not play against the Texans. Hogan gained notoriety in the preseason by earning the nickname “7-11” during training camp for always being open. He was an undrafted free agent who bounced around several practice squads last season before earning a preseason invite from Miami.
To fill the slots, the team added defensive tackle Chas Alecxih and receiver Brian Tyms to the practice squad. The team also added defensive tackle Ryan Baker to the active roster.
Baker has seven tackles and 0.5 sacks in his three-year career.
Slow recovery: Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas could be wearing a hat instead of a helmet this weekend against Oakland.
The second-year player from Kansas State suffered a concussion on a short run during the second quarter of a 30-10 loss at Houston last week. Thomas, who finished with 11 yards on three carries and one catch for 32 yards, is still sidelined with the injury and has yet to pass the NFL’s baseline test to return to the field.
If Thomas misses any time, rookie Lamar Miller likely will become the primary backup to starter Reggie Bush. However, Miller was one of seven inactives for Sunday’s game.
