UPDATED (Aug. 27; 10:26 a.m.): According to CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora, Jets linebacker David Harris has a minor ankle sprain. He's expected to return by Week 1.
----------
The first half of Sunday night’s preseason game vs. the Panthers was not kind to the Jets starters and their health.
On the first drive, tight end Dustin Keller injured his hamstring after he fell to the ground following a catch, and in the second quarter, linebacker David Harris injured his ankle. The team announced that neither player would return for the rest of the game.
While the Jets defense likely would be OK without Harris, Keller’s absence would be a big deal to the offense. Another tight end, Jeff Cumberland, already is injured, and Keller is one of Mark Sanchez’s favorite targets.
Later in the half, No. 3 tight end Josh Baker got undercut on a pass in the end zone and had to be helped off the field.
Midway through the second quarter, the Jets offense still hasn’t scored a touchdown in the preseason.
