It's kind of assumed that Dwayne Bowe wants out of Kansas City after this year. Who can blame him, right? And there have been rumors that he wants out as well.

However, the wide receiver said on Thursday that's not the case and that he loves Kansas City. In fact, Bowe called staying with the Chiefs a "no-brainer." OK then.

"Why wouldn’t I want to stay here? It’s a no-brainer for me,” Bowe told Adam Tiecher of the Kansas City Star, who reports he became emphatic about the topic when it came up. "I never said I didn’t want to be here. I never said that. This is where it started for me. This is where people know me from. That’s crazy to me.

"When I heard that, I was like, 'Where did that come from?' I never said I wanted out. Please clear that up for me. Do I play like I don’t want to be here? I just keep my mouth closed and play the game. That’s what I do. Please tell everybody to stop saying I’m a bad guy. I just don’t talk (to the media much)."

That sort of pleading is something that comes through in the entire interview (which is a very good read). Not so much that Bowe is desperate or anything, but it's clear he feels very much misperceived by the fans and the media in Kansas City.

Bowe says he thinks "he's been productive" and sidesteps the idea of getting another franchise tag from the Chiefs. He also pointed out that he's caught passes from nine different quarterbacks in his career, which seems, well, insane. But it's true, because I looked it up.

Damon Huard, Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen, Quinn Gray, Matt Cassel, Tyler Palko, Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn have all completed passes to Bowe since the Chiefs drafted in him in 2007. That's an incredibly long and crappy list of quarterbacks.

Now, having defended Bowe and become a little sympathetic to his cause, I don't believe for a second he wants to stay in Kansas City unless they're willing to back a dump truck full of money at his house.

He wants to avoid the franchise tag, hit the open market, and cash in as a free agent. It's hard to blame him and with the way the Chiefs have handled him thus far, it's also hard to imagine that his big-time contract is going to come in Kansas City.
