Asomugha is one of the Eagles' best players.  (US PRESSWIRE)

Nnamdi Asomugha collided violently with Nate Allen during Monday's practice but according to a report from CSNPhilly.com's Andy Schwartz and Reuben Frank, the Eagles' cornerback "never lost consciousness and showed no symptoms of a concussion immediately following the play or later when he underwent a concussion test that is routine after such injuries."

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reported earlier Monday that "Asomugha laid face down on the ground with little to no movement for close to five minutes before he finally rose to one knee. The cornerback then slowly stood, was helped to a cart and driven inside. Asomugha's shirt was bloodied and he held his head as he drove off."

Allen was also down but got to his feet much quicker than Asomugha, the team's best cornerback, before returning to practice. "I think (Nnamdi's) helmet hit my chest," he said according to McLane.

The Philadelphia Daily News' Les Bowen tweeted that the team said that Asomugha had a lip laceration and a sore neck, and they're still evaluating the cornerback for a concussion, which would be his second in nine months.

He left the Week 13 game against the Seahawks after former Seattle wide receiver Mike Williams accidentally kneed him in the back of the head. Asomugha, who was originally thought to have a neck stinger but was later called a concussion, laid motionless on the field momentarily before walking off under his own power.

The Eagles won the bidding war for Asomugha's services last offseason, signing him to a five-year, $60 million contract.
