Coach Andy Reid went over his injury list after the Eagles’ morning practice, and he might have saved time if he had named the players who are healthy instead of the ones who are hurt. Fourteen Eagles won’t practice Friday or will be limited.
Most of them have been out for a while –- defensive ends Trent Cole (shoulder) and Jason Babin (calf), tight end Brent Celek (knee) and wide receiver Riley Cooper (collarbone).
New members of the sick list include safety O.J. Atogwe (groin strain), linebacker Jamar Chaney (hamstring), wide receiver Jamel Hamler (hamstring), guard Brandon <span data-shortcode=" data-canon="Brandon Washington" data-type="SPORTS_OBJECT_PLAYER" id="shortcode0"> (concussion), guard Evan Mathis (inner ear infection), defensive end Monte Taylor (concussion), safety Nate Allen (dehydration), running back LeSean McCoy (dehydration), tackle Todd Herremans (shoulder) and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins (hamstring).
Reid said it’s normal for injuries to pile up at this point in training camp and the Eagles have had fewer pulls and cases of dehydration than they’ve had in the past. Jenkins, meanwhile, was philosophical about the setbacks.
“It’s that time of the year and you just have to deal with it and fight through it,’’ Jenkins said. “And I’d rather be banged up now and get it out of the way. It’s more important to be healthy in September.”
Reid said he won’t change his schedule or lighten his approach because of the wave of injuries.
“It’s football and we’re going to get better at blocking and tackling by doing it this way,’’ Reid said. “And that’s very important. This is the way we’ve always done it and I believe in that.”
