Winners of two straight, the Eagles entered Sunday night's game against the Panthers trending upward. But against the Panthers, the Eagles suffered a potential devastating loss.
With 5:21 remaining in the first quarter, left tackle Jason Peters went down to the ground while blocking Jared Allen. After staying down on the field for a few minutes, Peters was carted off the field.
According to the Eagles, Peters injured his lower back, is undergoing X-rays, and is questionable to return to the game.

Peters is one of the most important players on the Eagles' roster. He's been to seven Pro Bowls and has anchored the left side of the offensive line since the 2009 season, when he came to Philadelphia by way of Buffalo.
Peters, 33, has started all seven games this season. In his place, Matt Tobin has stepped in.
