O’Brien Schofield’s goal is to collect at least 10 sacks this season. The Cardinals would like nothing better from their third-year outside linebacker, since they’ve anointed him the starter ahead of veteran Clark Haggans. But, as Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic reported, the Cards also want to see more consistency from Schofield.
It doesn’t take a math whiz to know the Cardinals have a logjam at the cornerback spot opposite projected starter Patrick Peterson. “They know it,” defensive coordinator Ray Horton said. “They can count.” Between William Gay, Greg Toler, A.J. Jefferson, Jamell Fleming, Crezdon Butler and Michael Adams, the Cards should have more than enough competition to drive players to new heights, Darren Urban of azcardinals.com wrote.
Offensive line coach Russ Grimm hasn’t seen the bronze bust of himself that was minted upon his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2010 in Canton, Ohio. He’ll get a chance this weekend when the Cards play the Saints in the Hall of Fame Game, but there’s one hall memento Grimm won’t be bringing along, Urban wrote.
Former Arizona State players Eddie Elder and Colin Parker are wearing Cardinals jerseys, but they’re still honoring the maroon and gold. Also, quarterback Kevin Kolb got some compassion from Cardinals fans recently – and the start in the Hall of Fame Game – in my blog entry at foxsportsarizona.com.
