- K Olindo Mare got booed at Saturday’s practice in Bank of America Stadium when he missed 2 of 4 FGs. His competition for the kicking job, Justin Medlock, had only one miss -- a 50-yarder that bounced off the upright. Joseph Person and Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer broke down the kicking competition.
- Bruce Campbell has a new team and an old position this preseason. After two years playing guard for Oakland, he’s been moved back to his college tackle position in Panthers camp. Panthers.com’s Bryan Strickland looked at Campbell’s new lease on life.
- A crowd of 22,000 attended Carolina Panthers Fan Fest Saturday, and the undisputed star of the show was QB Cam Newton. After a short touchdown run, Newton rewarded the vocal crowd by tossing the ball into the stands. The Associated Press had the full report.
- LB Luke Kuechly has been impressive in his first NFL training camp. He caught another interception Saturday. If he keeps up this pace, they might spell his name correctly on his jersey. His first NFL jersey had it spelled “Kuechley”, as Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com pointed out.
