Here's the latest Falcons buzz heading into weekend:

  • The Falcons defensive tackles are dropping like flies. First it was Corey Peters, who’ll miss a few more weeks due to a substantial foot injury and Thursday, 25-year-old Vance Walker sat out from practice with an undisclosed injury. Falcons gab takes a look at who’s left on Atlanta’s depth chart. They suggested Peria Jerry out of Mississippi, whose 15 career tackles in 34 games leave a lot to be desired.
  • The Falcoholic gave a preseason breakdown at each Falcons position. There’s been improvement on the offensive line and most of the work has been dedicated to technique, according to the blog. The Falcons were the seventh worst team in the NFL last season, allowing 84 hits on QB Matt Ryan. They also stressed how good the cornerbacks have looked this season, including Dunta Robinson, who’s now responsible for the slot receiver with Asante Samuel on the outside.
  • Profootballfocus.com explored five reasons why the Falcons should be confident and five reasons why they should be concerned. Left off the list of five reasons to be confident are the Falcons’ two biggest reasons to be confident: Roddy White and Julio Jones. Both are big play threats who can play off each other’s coverage. Expect a huge season from Jones, who actually has an NFL training camp under his belt, unlike last season’s lockout-marred summer.  Their concerns, however, are on point. More specifically, Sam Monson addressed their porous O-line, the weak depth at LB, and Roddy White’s propensity for dropping balls.
