CB Darrelle Revis was full go on Monday after being held out for most of Sunday's practice. Revis had felt some tightness in his hamstring so the trainers and coaching staff decided to sit him. However, today, he was back and participated fully.
Revis isn't the only one dealing with issues in that area. During offseason workouts, almost the entire receiving corps battled injured hamstrings. According to coach Rex Ryan, there are a few players who, while they don't yet have an injury, are feeling the effects of training camp, including WR Chaz Schilens who has a groin issue and WR Jeremy Kerley who pulled a hamstring. As a result, Ryan has moved practice from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to allow for more stretching time in the hopes it will offset some of the soft tissue injuries.
Ryan said they will start to put a clock on the QBs, which is something they've done in the past. "[The quarterbacks are] holding the ball too long," Ryan said. "We need to get the ball out of our hands a little quicker."
RB Bilal Powell is "a different guy," according to QB Mark Sanchez. He said Powell is faster and more explosive so far this year. Powell, the Jets fourth round pick in 2011, was considered to be on the bubble coming in to this year.
LB Demario Davis was activated from the PUP on Monday. Per the new CBA he has to wait three practices until he can go to pads. "He passed the conditioning test with flying colors," Ryan said. Davis pulled his hamstring during his initial conditioning test prior to the start of
training camp.
The Jets have issues at right tackle with Jeff Otah who needs to pass his physical. He has until tomorrow. However, Ryan said he has been impressed by RT Wayne Hunter so far. Hunter started last year, but was considered by many, himself included, to be the weak link on the offensive line.
