The Seahawks continued efforts to beef up their wide receiving corps Tuesday by signing Braylon Edwards, reported Dave "Softy" Mahler of KJR Sports Radio. ESPN's Adam Schefter later tweeted that Edwards signed a one-year deal.
The signing of Edwards, who caught 15 passes in nine games with the 49ers last year and previously played for the Jets and Browns, wasn't the only roster move the Seahawks made Tuesday. The team also signed tight end Cooper Helfet. To make room for Edwards and Helfet, the team cut wide receiver Cameron Kenney and kicker Carson Wiggs.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King attended Seahawks camp Sunday and came away impressed with third-round draft pick Russell Wilson. King says Wilson "has a legitimate shot to win the starting job."
King's theory makes sense; Wilson took most of the snaps during Monday's practice.
