Falcons vs. Colts: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Falcons vs. Colts football game
3rd Quarter Report
After a tough defeat on the road their last time out, the Falcons look much better today on their home field. They have jumped out to a 20-10 lead against the Colts. The Falcons' offense has been firing on all cylinders thus far, outscoring their total from last Sunday with time still left to play.
If the Falcons keep playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 7-8 in no time. On the other hand, the Colts will have to make due with an 8-7 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Indianapolis Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Atlanta Falcons at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on the Colts, who come in off a win.
Even though Indianapolis has not done well against Pittsburgh recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Colts took down the Steelers 30-13. The win was just what Indianapolis needed coming off of a 34-14 loss in their prior game.
The Colts can attribute much of their success to Gardner Minshew II, who threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Those three passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, the point spread may have favored Atlanta last Sunday, but the final result did not. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 9-7. Atlanta has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The Falcons have used their receiving core heavily this season, as 46.7% of their passes have been to wide receivers this season. The team tried something a little different on Sunday though, as only 33.3% of the QB's passes went to receivers. Given they posted a dismal four yards per play the Falcons probably won't be trying that again any time soon.
Indianapolis is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Atlanta, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
The Colts are hoping to beat the odds on Sunday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. For those looking to play the spread, keep the Colts in mind: they have a solid 9-5 record against the spread this season.
While only the Falcons took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. Looking forward, the Falcons are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by a single point. Currently 9-5 against the spread, the Colts have been a solid investment this season; on the other hand, the Falcons are only 4-10 ATS.
