A NFC South battle is on tap on Sunday as the Atlanta Falcons will host the Carolina Panthers to start their respective 2023-2024 campaigns. Kickoff is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET on September 10th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
This game could come down to passing yards, as neither team did well in that area last year. The Panthers were ranked 28th overall, having averaged an unimpressive 190.9 per game. The Falcons, meanwhile, were ranked 31st with 172.2 per game.
Looking back to last season, Carolina finished on the wrong side of .500 (7-10), but they'll be hoping to turn things around this year. Similarly, the Falcons sure didn't have their best season, finishing 7-10.
The Panthers will need to dig deep on Sunday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with a 9-8 record against the spread.
Even though the team is expected to lose, Carolina was a solid 7-6 as the underdog last season, so don't count them out. Betting on them to win was the most profitable play last year, as bettors who put $100 on that outcome in every game walked away with $960.15. The Falcons will open their season as the favorite, and the team was 4-1 as such last season.
