Sunday NFL betting preview
The year of shocking teams in the NFL postseason continues into the Sunday portion of the Divisional Round in the 2026 NFL playoffs, with both the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears going from teams picking in the top three of the NFL Draft in 2024, to now hosting a second-round playoff game, which shows how much the correct quarterback and head coach combination can quickly change the direction of a franchise. Both teams are led by first-year head coaches in Mike Vrabel for the Patriots and Ben Johnson with the Bears, and both Drake Maye and Caleb Williams made significant strides at quarterback in Year Two in the NFL
The Patriots host the Texans at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday after winning the AFC East in a 14-3 season. The Texans went 12-5 quarterbacked by CJ Stroud, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. But both teams are defined by their defensive success this season, especially during Wild Card Weekend, with neither team allowing a touchdown last week. The Patriots defeated the Chargers, 16-3, and the Texans knocked off the Steelers, 30-6, last week. For NFL betting, the Patriots are 3-point favorites in the latest Sunday NFL odds at Fanatics Sportsbook, with an over/under set at 41 points.
The Bears host the Los Angeles Rams at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, and despite the Bears (11-6) being the home team and the No. 2 seed, the Rams had a better record at 12-5 while finishing second in the NFC West. The Rams have the No. 1 scoring offense at 30.7 ppg, and they scored 34 points against the Panthers over Wild Card Weekend. The Bears are coming off another wild victory, outscoring the Packers, 25-6, in the fourth quarter to win 31-27. The Bears went 6-2 at home this season, yet the Rams are 4-point favorites at Fanatics. The over/under is set at 49 points.
