Pro Football Focus describes Satele as "a maddening talent" who is "capable of pushing around some of the best linemen in the league" but who is "all the more frustrating when he himself gets the rag doll treatment."
The Raiders' offensive line ranked fourth in Football Outsiders' pass-blocking metric, allowing just 25 sacks. Still, Satele's lack of consistency made him expendable. Oakland will likely move guard Stefen Wisniewski back to center, his position in college (and on occasion as a rookie last season), or the team could target a center in the draft.
As for Satele, his arrest is considered a petty misdemeanor so it may not affect his future job prospects. That said, it wasn't like teams were beating down his door to sign him when free agency began last Tuesday.
