G Rob Sims says he feels “fresh” during the shortened offseason workout program mandated by the new CBA. After consulting with Lions’ coaches, Sims gained 20 pounds in the offseason to improve his strength against the potent DLs Detroit faces. “I felt there were some parts of my game affected because of (diminished size),” Sims said. “Some of the stuff (in run blocking) I do, I didn't have the pop I was used to. ... Blocking Albert Haynesworth and Justin Smith at 295 (pounds), I can’t do that anymore. I faked it for two years and got through it, but I can’t do it anymore.”
