G Rob Sims admitted “faking” his way through certain blocking situations during his first two seasons in Detroit while he struggled to maintain an effective weight. “This is the hardest I've ever worked in a place like this,” Sims said. “When I came to Detroit, I wasn't ready to be honest. The stuff they demand of you and how they practice. It's an old school mentality here.” Sims says offseason meetings with OL coach George Yarno helped him to embrace changes he must make to succeed.
