Running back Ahmad Bradshaw’s inclusion on the inactive list for Friday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears means first-round pick David Wilson will get to spend even more time with the first team. Wilson had been playing with the ones all week, but Bradshaw’s swollen right hand probably helped expedite Wilson's ascension up the depth chart.
As expected, receiver Hakeem Nicks will sit as he continues to work on his surgically repaired right foot. That gives another rookie, second-round pick Rueben Randle, more time to work with quarterback Eli Manning. However, Domenik Hixon is still expected to start.
The other Giants inactives include LT Will Beatty (back), CB Terrell Thomas (knee), CB Brandon Bing (hamstring), CB Jayron Hosley (foot), WLB Michael Boley (hamstring), OG Brandon Mosley (ankle), DT Shaun Rogers (blood clot), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back), DT Marvin Austin (back), DE Adrian Tracy, TE Travis Beckum (knee, PUP) and DT Chris Canty (knee, PUP).
Pierre-Paul’s back injury is not serious. Coach Tom Coughlin said the Giants just wanted to take every precaution so as not to aggravate the injury.
The same cannot be said for Beatty’s back. Veteran Sean Locklear will start in Beatty’s place and be charged with blocking Bears defensive end Julius Peppers. Beatty's sciatic nerve issue has not improved as expected, and there's even a chance that right tackle David Diehl could see some time at the blind side.
