New York Giants CB Terrell Thomas (knee) ran in the pool for the first time since aggravating his surgically repaired ACL at training camp. There is no timetable for his return.
“Progress,” Thomas said. “Taking it slow but doing everything I can in the meantime to get my knee strong and healthy again. When I’m ready to return, I’ll be ready to go.”
Dr. Arthur Ting has operated on Thomas’ right ACL twice, but the veteran said he won’t return to California for any more examinations. Thomas said he’ll stay in New York and be examined by Dr. Russell Warren at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Thomas hadn’t heard that Clint Sintim (knee) was waived-failed physical, but said the linebacker had expected to be cut. Like Thomas, Sintim tore his ACL twice.
“He tore it late last year and being that it was the second one he just wanted to take the proper time,” Thomas said.
Thomas is trying to give himself time to return from the same injury.
Rookie Jayron Hosley saw more snaps at nickelback in Thomas’ absence the past few days of training camp. Thomas was expected to start, but it appears second-year CB Prince Amukamara will start opposite Corey Webster, and Hosley and S Will Hill will play in the nickel.
