After cutting their roster to 53 on Friday night, the Giants made another transaction on Saturday when they claimed tackle D.J. Jones off waivers from the Eagles.
To create room for Jones, third-year guard Mitch Petrus was waived.
Petrus was having a particularly bad preseason, allowing a sack in the first half against the New England Patriots last week.
Jones (6-5, 310) signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins last season, but was later moved to the practice squad. He ended the year with the Baltimore Ravens practice squad which employed him for 11 weeks.
The Eagles claimed him on Feb. 6 and waived him on Friday. The Giants face the Eagles in Week 4.
