Ahmad Bradshaw will undergo a MRI for a knee injury, and if he can't go, it's a big blow to the Giants' pass protection. (US Presswire) |
Coach Tom Coughlin was extremely pleased with his team after Sunday’s 52-27 win over the New Orleans Saints, but there could be some bad news on the horizon.
RB Ahmad Bradshaw was one of several players to receive tests on Monday. Bradshaw usually has foot soreness, but coach Tom Coughlin told the media during Monday’s conference call that Bradshaw was also having an MRI, among other tests, performed. Bradshaw will also have several tests on his knee.
The Giants have lost RB Andre Brown and RB Da’Rel Scott this season, so it’s imperative that Bradshaw stay healthy as he’s the team’s starter and best pass protector in the backfield.
Bradshaw hurt his knee in the first half on Sunday, but did return. Eventually, however, rookie David Wilson took over in the second half and finished with 100 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
Coughlin also said that, while he saw “real quickness” from WR Hakeem Nicks at times, Nicks wore down over the course of the game. Nicks has been dealing with foot and knee problems, and on Sunday he had X-rays performed after the game. Coughlin wouldn’t say what was examined, but he did say he doesn’t expect Nicks to be 100 percent at any time this season.
CB Prince Amukamara has a hamstring strain that will be monitored, Coughlin said. Amukamara told CBSSports.com on Sunday that he would have an MRI on Monday.
WR Victor Cruz suffered a shoulder injury on Sunday, but Coughlin said he “should be fine.”
Giants’ Week 16 game pushed back: The Giants’ 1 p.m. start in Baltimore against the Ravens on Dec. 23 has been flexed to 4:25 p.m., the league has announced. The game will be broadcast by Fox.
The Giants’ final game could also be flexed, but the league doesn’t have to make an announcement about the Week 17 matchup with the Eagles until Dec. 24.
