Giants RG Chris Snee (hip) and C David Baas (hip/shoulder) missed their second consecutive practice Thursday, which has offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride concerned.
“They haven’t practiced yet,” Gilbride said. “We’re hopeful. I know the toughness of the guys, and I know their desire to play. Because of that, I’m expecting them to play, but they haven’t practiced yet and, you know, we haven’t seen them out there on the field, so I think they’ll play, but that’s just my confidence in them because of the type of people that they are.”
Coach Tom Coughlin was hopeful to have Snee and Baas, as well as DE Justin Tuck (shoulder) and RB Ahmad Bradshaw (knee/foot) available at Friday’s practice, but he couldn’t guarantee anything.
Baas said that was his plan as well, but sounded as if there would be some limitations.
“Just listening to the doctors, trying to take care of things as best as possible,” he said Thursday. “Everybody knows what’s at stake, and I know what’s at stake too, so I’m going to be ready. I’m focused. I’m getting my film study in, and I’m going to do everything I can to help this team win.”
If Baas can’t play, LG Kevin Boothe would likely switch to center and OG Jim Cordle would move into the starting lineup. Cordle played some for Snee on Sunday and predicted that the long-time Giant would be in uniform vs. the Ravens.
As for Cordle’s performance, Gilbride seemed pleased.
“I mean, Jimmy tried,” Gilbride said. “He battled, he fought, he gave it everything he had. When someone does that, I’m never disappointed.”
Is David Wilson done flipping? Wilson previously told ESPN that he wouldn’t be flipping after touchdowns any more this season but admitted Thursday that might not be the case.
“We'll have to see when I get into the end zone,” Wilson said. “I might not be able to hold back.”
Pro Bowl voting: Giants WR Victor Cruz led all NFC wide receivers in votes for this year’s Pro Bowl (515,811).
Eli Manning was fifth among NFC quarterbacks (315,512), Henry Hynoski was fourth among NFC fullbacks (72,269), Snee was fourth among NFC guards (152,439), Baas was second among NFC centers (167,151), Jason Pierre-Paul was second among NFC defensive ends (295,672), Lawrence Tynes was second among NFC kickers (102,212 votes) and Wilson was fifth among NFC kickoff returners (46,643).
The fan vote represents a third of the process, with coaches and players making up the other two thirds.
Who didn’t practice: Tuck, Bradshaw, Snee and Baas sat out Thursday, and Hakeem Nicks (knee), CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring), S Kenny Phillips (knee), WR Rueben Randle (back) and S Tyler Sash (hamstring) were limited.
DT Chris Canty went full.
