The Giants learned on Monday that cornerback Terrell Thomas has re-injured his surgically repaired right knee. Thomas will consult his doctor, but the Giants senior vice president of medical services Dr. Ronnie Barnes said it’s likely that he’ll have exploratory surgery to discover the extent of the damages.
But that’s not the only injury news coming from Giants training camp on Monday…
Weakside linebacker Michael Boley also was at the Hospital for Special Surgery having an MRI on his hamstring. Both Boley and WLB Keith Rivers have missed the last two practices because of sore hamstrings, but only Boley went down to New York to have an MRI.
“They’re just checking to make sure to what degree the hamstring is an issue,” Coughlin said.
Third-round pick Jayron Hosley left practice with a laceration on his knee, coach Tom Coughlin said.
“He fell down and he must have fallen on someone’s shoe,” Coughlin said. “That’s the only thing I can think of because he has a laceration or two and he has some stitches.”
Stitches aren’t normally serious, but if the sutures are around the knee, there is a chance he’d need to let the wound heal before he can return to the field as motion would have an adverse effect.
The news is better for defensive end Justin Trattou, who went for an MRI on his sprained ankle.
“He did and I guess he’s better,” Coughlin said. “He said it feels better today. I don’t know what that means but he feels better. I think we’ll get him back, it’s a lateral ankle, too.”
