The Giants called up OL Selvish Capers from the practice squad on Wednesday to replace rookie DT Markus Kuhn (IR, torn ACL) on the 53-man roster. OL Stephen Goodin, who was with the team during training camp, was added to the practice squad to replace Capers.
Capers, who was drafted out of West Virginia by the Redskins in 2010, spent the 2011 season being signed and released to the Giants’ practice squad, but never broke through to the 53-man roster.
The addition of Capers (6-5, 315) makes sense, as the Giants’ recently released OG Mitch Petrus, who was one of only two backup interior offensive lineman, along with C Jim Cordle. Petrus has since signed with the Patriots.
Goodin signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent over the summer and initially made the practice squad coming out of camp, but was released in September.
