The Giants did suffer several injuries in their 26-3 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday night.
Running back Ahmad Bradshaw left the game in the first quarter to have his right hand X-rayed while DE Adrian Tracy (hamstring) and LB Mark Herzlich (hip pointer) each left the game in the third quarter.
Cornerback Jayron Hosley was in a walking boot on his right foot after the game, but he didn’t know what exactly the problem was or when it occurred. Hosley had a 77-yard interception return for a touchdown during the game.
“I felt a little something in it and just went to the trainer,” Hosley said. “Got to get more tests on it."
The results of Bradshaw’s X-ray came back negative, and he did not return to the game. He finished the game with just two yards on three carries and appeared to have a compression sock on his hand while standing on the sideline in the second half.
"No break and he's got a swollen hand," coach Tom Coughlin said. "Hopefully they get the swelling down."
The Giants will conduct further tests on Sunday.
“It’s nothing serious,” Bradshaw said of the compression sock. “It’s just a precaution.”
“We didn’t know what to do with it,” Bradshaw continued. “It’s still there and then on one of the runs I hit it on someone’s helmet and it just popped. There was a little pain in it. It feels good. We’re just being precautious about it.”
Herzlich finished with one assisted tackled while Tracy failed to register any statistics. Both players played well in the first preseason game last Friday. Tracy had a sack in the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars while Herzlich saw extended action after replacing starting MLB Chase Blackburn.
Herzlich and Blackburn are currently competing for the starting job in the middle while Tracy is fighting to take departed Dave Tollefson’s role as the team’s fourth defensive end.
Herzlich said he didn’t know how he suffered his hip injury, but said it could have been “friendly fire.”
“It’s not too bad,” Herzlich said. “I think getting ice on it right away was helpful. The swelling stayed low. Tossing and turning in the night could happen, but I’m not really sure.”
Herzlich was only on the field for two plays.
Defensive end Matt Broha -- Tracy’s main competition for a spot on the 53-man roster -- had a sack for the second consecutive preseason game.
