With CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring) already declared out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons, the Giants signed CB Terrence Frederick off the practice squad. OL Selvish Capers was waived for the second time this season to accommodate the move.
If he plays, Frederick will be one of just four true cornerbacks on the field for New York, but S Antrel Rolle will play primarily at nickelback while rookie CB Jayron Hosley starts opposite CB Corey Webster on the outside. Frederick has been on the practice squad since Sept. 7.
Frederick, who has never played in the NFL, was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, but was later waived. He appeared in 50 games for Texas A&M during his collegiate career. He finished with 205 tackles, six sacks and four interceptions.
