The good news is that Giants weakside linebacker Michael Boley (hamstring) and left tackle Will Beatty (back) are no longer on the injury report. The bad news is that weakside linebacker Keith Rivers (hamstring) is.
Rivers hurt himself in the first half of the Giants’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but has since said he hopes to practice and play throughout the week. He described his condition as day-to-day. Coach Tom Coughlin said that Rivers will be limited at Wednesday’s practice, but he will participate.
Boley and Beatty were both hurt for the majority of the preseason and training camp, but were active against Dallas. Boley shared snaps with Rivers at weakside linebacker while Beatty served as the blocking tight end in the jumbo formation. Both could start at their natural positions this Sunday against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Asked if Beatty’s absence from the injury report meant he was healthy, Coughlin laughed. “I asked that question myself.” He wouldn’t say if Beatty will start Sunday, but explained that the left tackle will continue to get the same amount of snaps at practice, which recently have been split between the first and second teams.
Center David Baas (hip) also is a new addition to the Giants’ injury report, but Coughlin said he’s just sore and will participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Cornerback Jayron Hosley (toe) and linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka (groin) were removed from the injury report as well.
Others on this week’s injury report include: CB Prince Amukamara (ankle), DT Marvin Austin (back), OT James Brewer (back), CB Michael Coe (hamstring), WR Hakeem Nicks (foot), DE Adewale Ojomo (hamstring) and RB Da’Rel Scott.
