Starting Raiders weak-side linebacker Aaron Curry, who was placed on the PUP list when he reported to camp, will see a specialist in Los Angeles, coach Dennis Allen said Friday after practice.
“Just not getting to where we want him to be,” Allen said. “He’ll go down and we’ll let him get basically a second opinion and see if we can’t do something to get him better.”
Earlier in camp, Curry told CSNBayArea.com that he has undergone stem cell treatment, using bone marrow from his own hip.
“It’s the only thing that’s helped me recover,” Curry said. “Without it I’d be a lost cause for sure.”
Curry said he was hurt during offseason workouts but kept practicing and made the injury worse.
The Raiders have little depth at weak-side LB. Rookie Miles Burris, a fourth-round pick from San Jose State, has worked at his spot throughout training camp and will start Monday night against Dallas.
During the players’ day off Thursday, Curry sent a cryptic tweet, thanking Allen and GM Reggie McKenzie but providing no details.
“Nothing more than the fact that we’re letting him go down to see this specialist in L.A.,” Allen said.
