The Jaguars (1-3) hope the addition of WR and kick return specialist Micheal Spurlock gives them a boost. (US Presswire) |
The Jaguars announced the addition of Micheal Spurlock (5-foot-11, 210 pounds), a wide receiver and return specialist, on Friday after he was released by the San Diego Chargers earlier in the week.
The fifth-year pro has played in 46 career games and has 23 receptions for 294 yards and two touchdowns. He's better known as returner specialist with two kickoff returns and a punt return for touchdowns in his career.
He will add needed depth at wide receiver. Veteran WR Laurent Robinson has suffered two concussions in the past two weeks, and his status is unknown. Spurlock could also get a look in the return game. The Jaguars have only averaged six yards per punt return and 23.2 yards per kick return this season.
The Jaguars also promoted DE Ryan Davis from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Davis (6-2, 260 pounds) is an undrafted rookie out of Bethune-Cookman.
The Jaguars waived first-year OL Daniel Baldridge and third-year DE Aaron Morgan to make room for Spurlock and Davis.
