The Jaguars knocked off the Giants 32-31 in their first preseason game Friday night. It's still early in the preseason, but here's a look at who helped or hurt their stock:

Stock up:

1. QB Blaine Gabbert: No, he wasn't perfect, but he looked like a more confident QB on Friday night after a rocky rookie season. His first drive was a gem. He took the team 89 yards on 13 plays and capped if off with a nice touchdown toss to WR Cecil Shorts in the back corner of the end zone. He struggled with pressure a few times and lost a fumble after being sacked, but his 5-of-10 night for 63 yards and a TD is something to build on.

2. P Bryan Anger: The Jaguars caught some strange looks when they picked Anger in the third round in 2012, but he appeared worth it Friday night. He averaged 47.7 yards per punt -- that would've been good for seventh in the NFL in 2011 and is five yards more than P Nick Harris averaged for Jacksonville in 2011. The Giants' returners dropped two of his punts and struggled to field his bombs all evening.

3. WR Mike Thomas: He has been somewhat of a forgotten man with the additions of WRs Justin Blackmon and Laurent Robinson. He showed up on Friday and made four receptions for 89 yards. He beat Giants' CB Prince Amukamara for a key 29-yard reception on that long drive that set the Jaguars up for their first score. 

Stock down:

1. RB Maurice Jones-Drew: He wasn't even there as he continues his holdout, but Friday night did him no favors. The run game looked steady with RBs Rashad Jennings and Keith Toston combining for 17 carries for 107 yards. The whole offense looked rebuilt and more focused on spreading the ball around. 

2. QB Chad Henne: For a QB that some believed would push Gabbert for the starting job, he didn't look sharp on Friday night. He finished the game 4-of-9 passing for 28 yards but did throw for a touchdown. Third-string QB Jordan Palmer outplayed Henne, completing 9 of 13 passes for 110 yards.

3. CB Derek Cox: Cox left the game with a strained calf muscle and isn't expected to miss too much time. Still, coming off a trip to the IR in 2011, Cox must prove he can stay healthy on a consistent basis. There's no questioning his talent at CB, but the Jaguars have two proven veterans in Rashean Mathis and Aaron Ross who can take his job if he can't stay healthy.
